Happy 4th to all

What a beautiful day to celebrate our country's independence. The weather finally took a dip and cooled off from the hot 90's and I actually wanted to be outside. God Bless America!

We spent the day at my mother-in-laws house. The kids love to go there so it's nice to spend time with family and let someone else chase the kids for a few hours (kidding!...no really).

The family chose to have fried chicken, corn and potatoes. Oh and I made a cake. So being the good girl that I am trying to be, I packed up my lunch pail (on my day off) and brought my meal plan with me. I packed fresh spinach from our garden, chicken that my hubs grilled up for me (**thanks hubs**), a bag of baby carrots that I completely demolished and of course my lovely Spark. Ok I may have snuck a small amount a whip cream on a slice of strawberry. What? I'm human.

I know I said I was going to weigh myself every 3 days at the most but yet again, I couldn't wait one minute longer to see how I was doing. And yet again...down a few pounds. 5 pounds to be exact! Feelin' good, feelin' great. I really wanted break down and eat something bad today but I made it all the way through the day and did just fine. It's amazing how much power the mind has. It is much louder than the stomach. Who knew?

I peeked ahead at the meal plan for the Max Phase, which is after the Cleanse Phase, and I see things like sweet potatoes on the menu. Oh yeah! I'm a meat & potato kind of gal so that makes my heart happy. I had a long talk with my neighbor last night about weight management and fitness. She has tried many things and is now counting calories. I have tried that in the past and it's way too much math all day long. I deal with enough numbers in my job, I don't want it to start messing with my food too. But she knows what works for her and what doesn't work for her. That is very important to figure out. I was thinking about what my food habits will be like when I finish the challenge and I see it like this: Clean eating as much as possible, whole grains, complex carbs, lean meats, minimal dairy. But I also see coffee and the occasional baking. I believe clean eating is the best diet out there and I am not looking for supplements to take the place of any food. However, I do believe I have been lacking certain vitamins and minerals because of the lack of certain foods in my diet. AdvoCare has helped me get my system back to a place where it should be. So whatever it is for you that makes you feel like the healthiest you, do it. It's worth giving up the junk in our every day lives. That doesn't mean you will NEVER drink a latte again or EVER eat a cheeseburger and fries, because if you are like me, you know you will. But again, it's about making the choice every time you eat. Make sure 80% of your food choices are clean and healthy. And let that 20% be available for the pumpkin pies and waffles on a cold winter morning.

BE THE BEST YOU.
